What is IPL Photofacial?

IPL photofacial is a rejuvenation treatment in which intense pulsed light (IPL) helps eliminate a wide range of facial conditions. By using high-energy light waves, IPL treatment not only treats a variety of skin discolorations but also encourages the production of the skin’s natural collagen, which is a natural protein that keeps skin smooth and full.

IPL photofacial is most often used for the face, chest, neck and back of the hands. A 50% improvement can be expected with each treatment. Patients return to normal activities the same day and dark spots flake off within 7-10 days.

Is IPL Photofacial for Me?

If you are concerned with skin discoloration you may be a candidate for IPL Photofacial. IPL is one of our most effective treatments for skin discolouration, reducing brown pigmentation, sun spots, and rosacea. It can also diffuse redness, restoring the skin to a healthier, refreshed appearance.

As an added bonus, multiple treatments with IPL also stimulate collagen production – that’s the substance beneath our skin that provides strength and structure – often improving the texture of your skin.

However, there are some people who are not suitable for IPL Photofacial. Darker skin t tones or sun-tanned skin have too much melanin to treat safely. And, those taking medication that causes sensitivity to light, such as Accutane should not be treated with IPL.
