Kybella is identical to something your body makes called deoxycholic acid, which helps to absorb fats. Kybella works by destroying fat cells under the chin.  It  is an alternative to liposuction or other surgical procedures to treat double-chin fat.

Do you have excess fat under your chin or a double chin?  You may be a candidate for Kybella. “Upwards of 80% of people [with double chins] are concerned about the condition,” the lead investigator in a study sponsored by the drug’s maker. If you want to correct a double chin and do not want surgery then Kybella is the answer.

We will work with the client to customize a treatment plan based on the amount of fullness and individual treatment goals. Many clients treated with KYBELLA experience visible contouring of their chin profile in 2 to 4 treatments. Some clients require up to 6 treatments in order to achieve desired results. Once the chin profile has improved, clients may not need to be treated with KYBELLA again.

The improvement  is very long lasting and retreatment is not expected. Normal aging changes in the skin and other tissues of the neck will continue to occur. Though the treated fat cells are destroyed and replaced by collagen, a small amount is left behind. If you gain a great deal of weight, the remaining fat cells may expand giving a full appearance.

Experts don’t agree. Some people did notice a tightening effect, but it most likely due to the reduction of fat in the area. Kybella has only been proven to reduce fat under the chin.

Most common are bruising, swelling, pain, numbness, and small, firm areas around the injection sites, according to the company.  Side effects are expected to subside within a week.

It is only approved for the area under the chin. Kybella works best on small areas. Don’t count on it to dissolve love handles or muffin tops!

For most clients, downtime is minimal and occurs most commonly after the first treatment session.
