What is Sculptra Austin?
Sculptra is a synthetic injectable material known as “poly-L-lactic acid.” Poly-L-lactic acid is biocompatible (a material that does not harm the body) and biodegradable (able to be broken down by the body). Poly-L-lactic acid has been widely used for many years in dissolvable stitches, soft tissue implants, and other types of implants.
What is the difference between BOTOX, Juvederm, Restylane and Sculptra?
Not all treatments or injectables are created the same. Some target different areas of the face, and, more importantly, produce different effects. Neurotoxins (BOTOX and DYSPORT) work by temporarily paralyzing the muscles, typically in the forehead, to minimize frown lines. Results generally appear within a couple days and can last up to a couple months. Hyaluronic acid fillers (JUVEDERM and RESTYLANE) diminish lines by pushing up the dermis space beneath wrinkles and creases. Results appear immediately and can last up to several months. Collagen stimulators such as Sculpta diminish facial wrinkles restoring the deep, underlying structure of the skin. Results appear gradually over the 3 – 4 treatment period and can last up to two years.
Do I need a skin test before being treated with Sculptra Austin?
No skin test is required prior to use.
How does Sculptra Austin work?
Sculptra is injected below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss. Sculptra provides a gradual increase in skin thickness. Visible results appear within the first few treatment sessions.
Are the results for Sculptra immediate?
No. At your first treatment visit, it may appear that Sculptra worked immediately because of swelling from the injections and the water used to dilute Sculptra. In a few days, when the swelling goes down and the water is absorbed by your body, you may look as you did before your treatment. Sculptra takes time to gradually correct the depression in your skin.
How many treatments are required?
Our master injectors will decide the appropriate number of treatment sessions and the amount of Sculptra you will need at each session. Patients with severe facial fat loss may require 3 to 6 treatment sessions.
How long do Sculptra treatment results last?
Treatment results differ for each person. In a clinical study, the treatment results lasted for up to 2 years after the first treatment session or more. Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect.
Do Sculptra Austin injections hurt?
As with any injection, Sculptra may hurt. It is injected in small amounts using a very fine needle. If needed a numbing cream will be applied prior to treatment.
What should I expect during my treatment ?
You should remove any make up prior to treatment. The injection site is cleaned with an antiseptic. Our Master Injectors will use a very fine needle to make multiple small injections. An ice pack is applied to help reduce swelling, and the area is thoroughly massaged to distribute the product evenly.
What should I expect after my Sculptra Austin treatment?
Immediately following a Sculptra treatment, redness, swelling, pain, bruising, or all may occur in the treated area. Swelling, redness and bruising generally subside in a few days. In some rare cases, patients experience bruising that lasts up to a week. You will be given specific post-treatment care instructions, which will include massaging the area a few times each day for several days after the treatment session.
What are the possible side effects of treatment with Sculptra?
The most common side effects with the use of Sculptra include injection-related side effects at the site of the injection such as bleeding, tenderness or pain, redness, bruising, or swelling. These side effects generally last an average of 3 to 15 days.
